Rep.ing the (903) at the 4C...

You and I have this instinctive estimated height where our perifeal should spy the horizon at the termination of a forest's canopy. You know, you're running through the woods, and normally out of the corner of my eye, theres blue sky. I know thats different for everybody, but I always think i live amongst trees, and when we go to Tyler State Park i see some nice forest there, but nothing in these parts compares to the 4C National Recreation Trail in Davy Crockett National Forest. I've been there before, but it never ceases to surprise and delight. Its a flat relatively straight trail that has virtually no traffic, and no noise save the wind once you're inside. Unlike so many of the looped trails here in Texas, when you're on the 4C, you feel as if you really are going somewhere...in the 1800's. Personally, its on my running to do list only during this part of the year, as folks hunt there in the fall, and misquitos, snakes and crocs hunt there the rest of the time. We did some out and backs on the south half the other day, and Syp and I recorded some footage that may inspire you to see for yourself.

1. The Return of the Pledge - I'll be seeking to raise funds so that my family and I can fly to Uganda for the summer and work with 60 Feet Ministries.

Hello fello Bloggers, havent typed my feeling on this website in FOREVER!!! So let me update you on whats been happening. So, I'm sad to say that Boog, our Riot dude has resigned :(. Yeah, he teaches and coaches at Eustace. But, I guess God has set him in that path. SEE YOU AT THE POLE IS SEPTEMBER 23!! High school is around the flag pole (as usual), Middle school's will be in front of the gym. It's gonna be absolutly AMAZING! Come talk about God, and Doughnuts!!!! See ya there!

So the pass couple of weeks we have been watching Passion of the Christ and it was AWESOME!!! But I don't understand why all those people didn't believe that he was Jesus. A lot of people cried, but I don't know if they were crying because of all the blood & gore, or that they realized that he did that for us.

Riot Nite 4/1/09

Okay, so tonight we had RiotNite like every wednesday.

But, tonight Lance Perkins sang a song that he wrote and it's called, Come in out of the rain.

And he wrote it sometime in 2007.

It was really good, and i liked it.

Than we sang 2 songs by Chris Tomlin, which were: Jesus Messiah, and Amazing Grace.

Than Boog talked about Eve taking the fruit from the tree and God saying if you take it you'll die.

But Satin is trying to tell her you won't die.

But of course she did.

OH!!!!

Next week were going to watch Passion of the Christ, so BE THERE!!!!

And of course we had coffee and cookies and all that yummy stuff.

Riot Nite- Every Wednesday night at 6:30.

By the way this is Kelsey Reynolds writing on this blog just to let you know. If you have never came to our church and you would like to know more about it, this is the right blog for you. Riot Nite is Boog talking to us about God. He's literally shoving the bible down our throat. Sometimes we have singing, we play games once in a while, and every wednesday we have coffee and snacks. I'm usually the one who is serving it. We have basketball, ping-pong, foozball(or however you spell that), and we have a piano. So by reading this right now your probably thinking, WHOA!! this church is pretty awesome, well you are so right!!! We do a lot of activities with the town like, RiotWrks, and our D-Now this year was about Deed&Truth. I might add a entry about D-Now later. Well thats my blog entry for today, i might do one every day, i dont know, we'll just have to see.

So, we keep talking up this Collision '08 thing...why Collision? What is a collision?

Merriam Webster Defines it as something like this:
1 : an act or instance of objects coming together with solid or direct impact
2 : an encounter between particles (as atoms or molecules) resulting in exchange or transformation of energy

Have you been impacted by Christ? Are you/we impacting the world for Christ? How would you go about doing something like that? Do we live in the power we've received from Christ? Do we spread that power everywhere we go?

These seem like pretty good questions to me, and I intend to look hard for the answers...I intend to do alot of that at Collision '08...how about you?

I was reading this this morning ( BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: John 12:25-26 ) and it made me reflect on this question: Am I? Am I loving this life in the “real world” or am I hating it to follow Christ? Am I following Him or am I going wherever in the big bad world I want to? Do I really “got this”? Jesus says that where He is, His servant will be also…so am I?

Hey Guys...in case you were out and about last night, here's the quick and dirty:

We had talked last week about how we all have a purpose, and that's to Love God & Love People. Well, that's kind of hard. In point of fact...it's real stinkin hard. Just ask someone who's trying to walk that narrow path...

We talked about how so hard to get up in the morning and dedicate even a small amount of time to God & His Word, yet its so easy to lose my temper, or to lust, or (fill in the blank for you)...

Isaiah 55 (Isaiah 55 - The Message) Shows how while its so easy to chase after all the worthless unsatisfying things in life, and it's tricky, tricky, tricky to pursue God, He is way satisfying and life-giving. We watched this video on that very thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyheJ480LYA

We have to seek Him while He's to be found and not only because He's there, which is more than you could say for a lot of dads, but because He's mighty to save, He's a Hero! Due to the nature of my calling, I go to lots of funerals (at least more than I used to). It's really one of those very interesting and rich yet painful things because you see real people being real about their pain of loss, celebration of a well lived life, grief, real joy, comforting, hurting, etc. I always come away feeling guilty of not redeeming the time...Are we living in such a way that one day, what will be remembered is how much we loved, how much integrity we had, how much we would give to help others? What are you living for..really?

I've posted some pics...and everything we do up here in the RiotRoom is fun and different and positive, etc. etc....but it doesn't matter if its not changing lives and changing this world, and that's not going to happen until we, as a RiotCrew, or family, and until I spend more time on may face, than my space, more time in prayer to our Father God, than in the lockeroom, more effort being the change, than griping about the lack of it, or just waiting for somebody else "more christiany" to do it. God is so splendorous...isn't He?! Last night, RiotNITE was awesome!!! You can't help but feel your heart leap and sag at such wrenching and real stories of God rescuing lives...why does He seek us so? God is very serious about flipping this world upside down and He's aggressively pursuing us to do it through...

Anytime you feel overwhelmed by the pressures of this world or enemies and obstacles in your path, or anytime you think you really have a handle on life and can conquer all by your lonesome, just check out God’s Word. Isaiah 36-37 is one such passage that illustrates God’s awesome sovereignty and power over our circumstance.

The scene opens with the Rabshakeh, a messenger from the Assyrian King, Sennacherib, boasting insultingly against God’s people in Jerusalem and against the power of God Himself. The messenger is so crude and vile that the Hebrews ask him to speak in Aramaic, as opposed to Hebrew so that the people in the walls won’t hear the conversation. The messenger rails against the Lord even louder. In 36:10, he even admits that it was the Lord that sent him against the city.

After this the prophet Isaiah reassures the people that the Lord is with them and not to fear Assyria; Actually Assyria is the one that should be afraid…and this is my favorite part of the story:

The Lord calls Sennacherib out for boasting against the Holy One of Israel (37:23) and says basically, “look, I made you who you are to do just what you’re doing, but don’t think for one second that you’re off my leash (37:26-27) because I know where you live, and you know what, I’ll turn you this way just like I turned you that way, and you know why’ll I’ll do it? A. Because I can, B. For my Name Sake, and 3. For David’s name sake (you can almost feel God telling him, “ you know, the real king”). And here’s the climax…God is not slack in carrying out His Word…Soon thereafter the Angel of the Lord went out and killed 185,000 Assyrians in one sitting (37:36).

Bottom Line: The Lord has put you right where He wants you, so: Don’t be too proud, and also, If He’s leading you somewhere, fear nothing that stands in the way.

I know, I know, I know!!! 3 MONTHS!!!. It is what it is and I'm sorry. Besides just being sorry I've also posted some pics from the Guys Retreat & some thoughts from my time in God's Book today.

I was looking at Acts Ch. 6 and a thought hit me...Stephen's face appeared to be that of an angel...It reminded me of this ludicrous song that says something about the lips of an angel and how so often we equate getting exactly what "we" desire as heavenly, but right here is Stephen, lied about, betrayed, arrested and alone with God, before a hateful murderous crowd...

He is about to give a powerful and astonishing defense of the Gospel of Christ. He is about to meet a gruesome martyr's death because of his faith...and his Joy shines forth in a face like an angel...

My hope is that we will shine like that, not because we're getting ours, but because we've given up everything to defend the Gospel of our Christ and reach our world for Him. Shine on.

I just can't help it...God is Good...All the time! See You At the Pole & RiotNITE SYATP Edition was all very awesome...

God did some crazy things by drawing us into prayer and to his feet...

All I can say is...He's doing it. He didn't just peek in the other night, and He didn't just breeze by last night at RiotNITE; He is moving and working here in a phenomenal and undeniable way....The Lord is His Name!!

God is not playing around with this Riot thing...He's really doing it and He's really going to use a bunch of students with huge faith, but that just 6 months ago would have scoffed at the task at hand, and sighed under their breath, "not here, this is Malakoff." LISTEN!...The time is coming and now is when Jesus Christ will be victorious not in just big cities, not just Malakoff even, but everywhere He sends us in His Spirit to do His mighty mighty work. Why not?

In the passage above God is preparing to pour out his wrath on all sin in the world, and like we talked about yesterday, the world was full of it.

Pray & thank Jesus Christ for taking our beat down on the cross.

Men were only thinking evil all the time! Can you believe that?! Who would do such a thing? Certainly not me & you…or would we? How often do we think about Jesus? We are supposed to live our whole day focused on & pleasing him. He is Lord.
Pray and admit to God how much you really focus on him & ask Jesus to destroy the power of evil in our lives and schools and families and friends.

Thank goodness there’s more to God than anger and punishment. Noah found grace with God…and so do we. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve and not getting what you deserve. Noah lived in this evil world but he was allowed to walk with God and even have his whole family saved from the coming flood.
Ask God for his mercy and grace to empower you to walk with him today and ask for his patience with your friends who ignore him so that you can show them how much he loves them.

So here we are: We’ve been caught in the act, we blame shifted, we were cursed, and we’ve been left with a life…We’ve also taken ownership of our sin, confessed it, determined to live thru pain, and create a life that worshipful…all because of the sacrifice and love of Christ.

Did you catch that? Abel wasn’t the first one to die, an animal was. An animal had to be sacrificed to “cover the nakedness” of Adam & Eve…Naked, do you ever feel that way? Like no matter what you do, it’s never enough, like the sin and the failures and the hardship of life have just stripped away all your resolve, all your joy and left you with nothing…Jesus became that, even though He is God of all Creation, he became nakedness for us and sacrificed Himself for our life.

2 Corinthians 5:14-21

Now, we are created in His likeness, in Him…So it should only be natural that we sacrifice. We should die daily for Christ and His cause of saving this world. What will you sacrifice (give up painfully) today for your priesthood? Remember, God didn’t give away something He really didn’t want anyway. He gave His very own Son, in essence His very own Life. What will you give today to flip Malakoff, Texas on it’s head and start saving lives?

Eve, despite her sin, became the mother of all living. Jesus, as a man, is the descendent of Eve, and Jesus Christ is the source for life, in fact is THE LIFE.

John Chapter 14

Jesus is the Life. It’s real simple. Are you living for God? Are you living for you? Your object of affection (you or God) will determine what kind of life you create on this planet. Live your hard knock life for Jesus, it’s His anyway!

Ask anybody older than you…life is hard. It just is, and being a christian does not make it any easier. In fact, the bible says that being called to Christ means certain pain. We can’t live long with out falling short of the mark, or failing in some way. So what happens when that happens.

Genisis Chapter 3
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

Consequences & Repercussions, That’s what!! But what do you do? Do you quit? We don’t. Why, because Christ becomes our curse. He takes the hit for us. It may hurt day to day in this so-called life, but Jesus took the eternal hit when He died on a tree for our sin.

Galatians Chapter 3
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

So, Jesus became our curse, so what do we do with this hard knock life? We live it. We live out our calling, purpose, priesthood, “hero-hood”, whatever you want to call it, with all our heart and we do this with a sense of courage and with the very serious understanding that we will fall short & we will see pain, but we will be victorious in Christ!

Everybody loves to play the “blame game” when caught red handed.

Especially today, with so much time being spent on MySpace or playing role games like Halo or Medal of Honor…We spend so much time living a virtual life where there are no consequences for our actions. So like this passage above, we try and avoid guilt by blame-shifting.

David sinned…big time, and the only way to begin repairing his relationship with God was to confess his sin. Jesus stands ready to forgive you and cast that sin as far away as the east is from the west, but to begin, first you have to own it…its your life, your decisions, your hurts, your mistakes…own it all, because Jesus has paid for all.

It's so fun tearing stuff out!!! No fun cleaning stuff up. That's another reason why our God reigns. He tears down, cleans up, breathes life...and loves all of it.

We got started on expanding the RiotRoom last night and really have our work cut out for us. Huge thanks to all the gentlemen from the Manly Mens Tuesday and FBC Men Ministry that participated by either working or working on burgers. Also a big thanks to Ryan, Cord, Chris, Josh & Mr. Street (Derek I think, but I'm old). These guys were an awesome example and witness and I hope you guys got plenty to eat.

Blah is no fun for anyone....

RiotNITE is definetly not Blah..

Everyone will tell you that Malakoff, Texas is just Blah...But little do they know, that whole civilizations have been altered for eternity by a few kids getting together and lifting their voices to an almighty & caring God....

This sort of thing is already going on. It's called The Resistance, Plug into it...The students at MMS have started this & I believe it's another beginning of the end of blah in Malakoff...God is Coming, God is Here and He has brought all kinds of excellence with Him, and He's not coming and He's not here to just play nice...He's here to see you flip this world upside down to His Glory!!
Take every chance to be equipped and jacked up for this effort because it is going to be hard...maybe one of the hardest things you'll ever do...but it is worthy of you, and Christ has made you worthy of the Calling...

I love you guys more than you'll know, but not nearly as much as Christ (My Champion) Who gave His life for you when you were still dead and worthless in sin. To Him Be All Glory & Praise in this Place. I'm BrotherBoog and This Is Malakoff!

Big thanks to the guys here wednesday night. I appreciate you guys helping me be real and I'm proud of you folks for your honesty with each other & with God....relationships....that's what this year (and life for that matter) is all about. How do we relate to each other? How do we relate to God and vice-versa? It's through covenants (understandings).

RiotNITE will always be about getting real with each other & with God...so get ready.

RiotLIFE is where we gain understanding of God's truths and the part we play in His revolution that's going to turn this place upside down.

You must plug into these power sources if you plan on changing the world (including Malakoff, Tx) more than it changes you.
